Following on from that Marion worked as a lecturer in mental health nursing and as tutor in clinical psychology.
From 1992 to 1999 Marion lived in Canberra and worked as a Registered Nurse in a medical specialist practice. In 2000 Marion commenced post-graduate social work through Edith Cowan University at Bunbury Campus Western Australia which specialised in rural and remote social work. Throughout the degree and after graduation in 2000 Marion worked in the Crisis Care Unit of the WA Department of Family and Children's Services specialising in crisis intervention and child protection.
Marion first joined the Department of Defence in 2003 and has worked as a Military Social Worker ever since and has extensive experience in bereavement support , mental health , family deployment support and resilience. Marion's current position is that of embedded Senior Social Worker with a unit of the ADF Special Forces.
Marion's research interests are in family support for PTSD , military bereavement support for traumatic grief and best practice in military social work. Marion is supportive of the AFOM Research Foundation because of its commitment to improving the health and well-being of ADF families and advancing contemporary military social policy as well as the emphasis on evidence based practice.
